Dr. Susan Stoner Research Associate Professor at Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, UW School of Medicine

Dr. Stoner is a Research Associate Professor at the Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute (ADAI), Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, UW School of Medicine. She joined ADAI after completing her PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Washington in 2003. She left UW to conduct Small Business Innovation Research in 2008 and returned to the Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute in 2014.

She has collaborated with ADAI colleagues on projects related to alcohol, cannabis, methamphetamine, and opioids and with School of Social Work colleagues on the intergenerational transmission of illness behavior. Past areas of research focus include the effects of acute alcohol intoxication on sexual risk behaviors; screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment for substance use disorders; culturally informed interventions; chronic pain; and medication adherence.

Dr. Stoner became the Director of the Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) in 2020. In 2022, the University of Washington Board of Regents appointed Dr. Stoner as the holder of the esteemed Ann Streissguth, PhD Endowed Professorship in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders.


Shrounda Selivanoff Chief of Parent Representation Initiatives Washington State Office of Public Defense Parent Representation Program

Shrounda Selivanoff is the Chief of Parent Representation Initiatives at the Washington State Office of Public Defense Parent Representation Program. Her prior work includes serving as the Director of Public Policy at the Children’s Home Society of Washington, and roles at the King County Parents for Parents Program, Perinatal Treatment Services, and University of Washington Fetal Alcohol Drug Unit Parent-Child Assistance Program.

Shrounda is the recipient of the 2023 Shine Your Light Award, 2021 Casey Excellence for Child Award, and 2021 Unsung Hero Award from the Department of Children, Youth, and Families. She is a member of the Washington State Parent Ally Committee, a founding member of the Birth Parent National Network, Executive Board member of Family Treatment Court of King County, Co-Chair of the Department of Children, Youth and Families Oversight Board, and Co-Chair of the Racial, Equity and Impact Citizen Review Panel. She provides a parent lived experience perspective on state, local and national platforms, all in pursuit of justice and family preservation.
